M. Trevor Lyons spoke
at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s (NJBIA)
"Complying with State & Federal
Family & Disability Leave" seminar on November
19, 2010. Mr. Lyons clarified what employers need to know
about their rights and obligations under
New Jersey’s various leave laws,
disability and workers’ compensation laws, the federal
Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Americans with
Disabilities Act. Mr. Lyons further explained how each of
the relevant leave and income replacement laws interact with
each other, how to integrate leave requirements into your
employee policies, and how to put the requirements of the
various leave laws together to avoid costly litigation.
On
December 2, 2010, Mr. Lyons also spoke at the New Jersey
Affordable Housing Management Association’s
“Healthcare
Reform and its Impact”
Breakfast Meeting.
Mr. Lyons
discussed
the obligations imposed on employers under the new federal
health-care law, the timeline for implementation of these
new obligations, new tax credits and grants available to
employers, and the current status of legal challenges to the
new legislation.

Lyons has focused his
