Lyons to Deliver Sessions on Contract Negotiation and Breach of
Contract Issues at Executive Compensation Seminar

M. Trevor Lyons,
an attorney with Connell Foley’s
Labor and Employment Law practice group, will deliver two
sessions at an upcoming seminar on executive compensation. “Negotiating
Executive Compensation Agreements”
is being offered through National Business Institute (NBI) and
will be held in Princeton on December 9, 2008 and in Saddle
Brook on December 10, 2008.
The seminar will offer
executives and attorneys representing executives the keys to
negotiating superior executive compensation agreements. It will
also provide insight for in-house counsel about key legal
considerations and winning strategies in negotiating with
executives. Additionally, attendees will gain insight on the
tax and legal implications involved with employment agreements.
Mr. Lyons will deliver two
different sessions at both the Princeton and Saddle Brook
seminars. His morning session, “Successful Negotiation
Tactics,” will cover such diverse topics as due diligence
and the benefit of corporate intelligence; how to develop your
own contract before negotiations; the initial offer; secrets to
controlling the give and take; hidden factors the employer is
weighing; five things to bring up during negotiations; keys to
negotiating incentives and perks; and more.
Mr. Lyons’ afternoon session,
“Legal Issues (with Case Studies),” will cover breach of
contract issues relating to bankruptcy, oral agreements,
resignation and good faith/fair dealing. Confidentiality and
non-compete agreements will also be covered.
Mr. Lyons
has focused his practice in the area of labor and employment law
since his graduation from law school. He provides diligent
representation on behalf of management for a broad array of
labor and employment related claims, including allegations of
discrimination, employment contract disputes, restrictive
covenants, wrongful terminations and whistleblower complaints.
He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Labor
and Employment Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution sections.
