Shadiack Presents at Human Resources Best Practices Seminar

Michael A. Shadiack,
Connell Foley Senior Associate, presented at the Associated
General Contractors of New Jersey's human resources best
practices seminar on August 18, 2009 in Edison, New Jersey.
Mr. Shadiack spoke on hiring, disciplining and firing best
practices, as well as drafting practical and enforceable
personnel policies and procedures. In addition, he
provided practical compliance advice on: New Jersey Paid
Family Leave Law; Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act; Employee Free
Choice Act; the new regulations under the Family and Medical
Leave Act; Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of
2008; the new federal immigration compliance procedures; and
the COBRA subsidies under the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Mr.
Shadiack is a member of the firm's Labor and Employment Law
practice group. He regularly
presents on traditional and cutting edge labor and
employment topics, and conducts training on avoiding
workplace harassment to the private and public
sectors, non-profit organizations and institutions of higher
education.
For the
past 30 years, the firm has served as general counsel to the
Associated General Contractors of New Jersey. The Associated
General Contractors of New Jersey is a statewide association
of general and specialty contractors involved in heavy and
highway construction, site development and utility
contracting on public and private projects. It is one of
ninety-six (96) state chapters all belonging to
Associated General Contractors of America, the largest
national construction association in the nation.
