M. Trevor Lyons spoke at New Jersey Business & Industry
Association (NJBIA)
"Complying with State & Federal Family & Disability Leave"
seminar on May 14, 2010, held at the Sheraton
Eatontown, NJ. Lyons is scheduled to speak for a
second time on November 19, 2010, at the Westin, Mt. Laurel,
NJ.
Lyons
spoke about what employers need to know about their rights
and obligations under New Jersey’s various leave laws, its
disability and workers’ compensation laws, the federal
Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with
Disabilities Act. Lyons further explained how each of
the relevant leave and income replacement laws interact with
each other, how to integrate leave requirements into
employer policies, and how to put the requirements of the
various leave laws together to avoid costly litigation.
Lyons
has focused his practice
in the areas of
labor and employment law on behalf of management in the
private and public sectors. Lyons provides employers with
pro-active and preventative counseling on personnel and
benefit issues. He defends employers in litigation in
state and federal courts and before state and federal
administrative agencies. Lyons also represents
employers during contract and grievance arbitrations and
collective bargaining negotiations, defends unfair labor
practice charges, and conducts employee disciplinary appeal
hearings.
