Jeffrey W. Moryan is an experienced trial lawyer in
both state and federal courts for over twenty-five
years having tried over 100 cases to conclusion,
including aviation, product liability, toxic tort,
commercial and environmental law matters. His trial
and litigation experience spans complex commercial
to wrongful death, brain injury and other
significant personal injury cases. The Supreme
Court of New Jersey, Board of Trial Certification
has denoted Mr. Moryan as Certified Civil Trial
Attorney since 1987, recertifying him each time he
has been eligible in 1994, 2001, and most recently
in 2007.
Mr. Moryan has maintained an extensive practice
representing airlines and manufactures in product
liability; passenger rights and personal injury
cases; property damage and HULL cases; breach of
contract; and discrimination. He is the lead trial
counsel for Colgan Air, Inc., in the multibillion
dollar property and wrongful death consolidated
lawsuits arising from the September 11, 2001
terrorist attacks. As such, he serves on the Joint
Defense Committee, Aviation Subcommittee and
Property Damages Subcommittee. Mr. Moryan has also
served as lead counsel for several clients,
including corporations and major and mid-sized
petroleum companies, in connection with catastrophic
losses and mass tort litigation.
For approximately twenty years, Mr. Moryan
represented major and mid-size oil companies in
defense of toxic tort and environmental
contamination claims, including wrongful death,
brain injury, personal injury, medical monitoring,
property damage, and remediation claims. He also
represented potential Responsible Partners before
the New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection and New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation.
Additionally, he has counseled several major clients
that were subject to
United States Department of Justice Investigations
for anti-trust matters; criminal probe following an
explosion; and alleged violation of State and
Federal interstate commerce statues. Mr. Moryan has
lectured extensively at various bar associations,
and other client based organizations on crisis
management, trial tactics and techniques, importance
of proper jury selection, and to medical
practitioners on the preventative measures to avoid
litigation.
At Seton Hall University School of Law, Mr. Moryan
was the Managing Editor of Seton Hall Law Review
(1979-1980), for which he authored a Note,
Religious Groups' Use of Public School Buildings
during Non-school Hours Not Violative of
Establishment Clause of First Amendment, 9
Seton Hall Law Review 524, 1978. Mr. Moryan
served as Legal Intern to the Honorable Frederick B.
Lacey, United States District Court, District of New
Jersey (1979-80) and later served as an Adjunct
Professor at Seton Hall Law School (1983-84). Mr.
Moryan was a member of the ABA Task Force on
Franchise Law.
